In a front yard the limit is 4' overall from finished grade, except that a wrought iron fence may be 6'. That limit runs from the front property line back to the required front yard setback. A front yard fence may not stand in the right-of-way or a sight distance triangle, and fence columns may not sit more than 12 inches above the fence.
In a side or rear yard the limit is 8' from finished grade, and a side or rear fence over 6' may not be chain link.
